Crowd
Management Services, a wholly owned division
of Starplex Corporation, was founded in January
1979 and incorporated in the State of Oregon.
The original intention of Crowd Management Services,
or CMS as it has become known, was to provide
Peer Group Security for rock concerts and festivals
based in Oregon. We served the Portland Memorial
Coliseum exclusively for all rock shows and
helped develop new and innovative crowd management
procedures.
Due to our new approach
to crowd management, CMS grew and expanded rapidly
in the early 1980’s. We opened offices in Spokane,
Washington in 1980 when we became the service
partner to the Spokane
Center and Spokane Coliseum. We expanded
services to include guest services, traffic
and parking operations, and alcoholic beverage
enforcement. By 1990, we managed the majority
of crowd events and venues in Oregon and Washington
and maintained five regional offices. Starplex
Corporation was incorporated as a parent company
to Crowd Management Services which allowed us
to develop additional services, including consulting,
so as to continue leading our industry with
innovation.
As the 1990’s brought
change to our industry, Starplex Corporation
saw the need to change our focus from that of
a crowd management provider to a provider of
innovative guest
service programs. After studying under the
Disney Institute for three years, Starplex /
CMS designed and developed new policies and
procedures dedicated to positive guest and ambassador
satisfaction and experiences.
In 2000, Starplex Corporation
opened a regional office in Billings, Montana
serving the Montana MetraPark and Montana State
University in Bozeman. We also took over the
crowd management and traffic and parking operations
at the annual Alaska State Fair expanding our
operation to five states in the Greater Northwest.
Today, our six regional
offices employ 18 full-time dedicated Crowd
Management and Guest Service executives and
in excess of 3,000 permanent part-time ambassadors.
We are, by far, the largest and most renowned
provider of crowd management and guest services
in the Greater Northwest.
