Progard Uniform Division

ProgardStarplex Progard, the uniform division, was created to handle public safety and security functions beyond the scope of Crowd Management Services. In response to requests from Spokane officials in 1980, Progard assumed lot security duties at the Spokane Coliseum as well as site and overnight security functions at the Spokane Convention Center. Now, nearly 30 years later, Progard’s Spokane staff includes more than 50 uniformed officers. Their duties have expanded to include 24-hour security monitoring at the Spokane arena, plus traffic control and parking, metal detector wand searches and bench security at sporting events.

In 2000, Progard took on all of the public safety responsibilities and 24-hour security at Billings’ multi-facility MetraPark and the Montana State Fair in Great Falls. Six years later, the division assumed 24-hour security for the State Fair Park and SunDome in Yakima. Today, Progard not only maintains its longtime service contracts, but it accepts select special assignments throughout the Northwest.

Starplex Progard agents are rigorously interviewed and trained prior to assignment. They train with law enforcement officials and are certified by the respective states for parking and traffic control. In addition, all are certified unarmed private security guards.

Several times a year, agents are called on by local law enforcement agencies to volunteer as combatants in law enforcement tactical training. This has forged a strong bond between Starplex and law enforcement officials, a mutual benefit when planning and staffing events. Progard escorts guests from facilities when they’ve been evicted and, as necessary, detains guests suspected of criminal activity until law enforcement arrives. Further, they write incident reports and gather witness and staff statements.
